Synopsis
- As my memories consist a great deal of pictures and of music I use them in my creative video work to imagine the meaning they have for defining identity. Wedding celebrations belong to my very early memories, thus I chose wedding photos to work on this theme. Being black and white and soundless the old photographs are longing for colours and music to celebrate the day of marriage which even nowadays is one of the most important events of people`s lives in all cultures; being married or joined with a partner is closely connected with developing one`s identity. – One modern and yet traditional muslim couple from Egypt opens the round by doing the ring ceremony (motion) and presenting themselves in their bridal outfit (photo); they are followed by couples from the past (19-forties to 19-sixties/photographs) and their parties, placed in Hungary and Germany. As the music represents the different cultural backgrounds the “eye” tool is creating colours and movement in the “lifeless” images, thus revealing impressions of many different personalities. And while watching the parties the spectator melts with the people, imagines their celebrations, becomes part of one big dance before he is left with new memories of the dissolving feast.
