Synopsis
  • "THE ROAD TO NOD is a narcotic and brooding tale of wrong decisions and their inevitable and desultory consequences.
The film is at its roots an Old Testament tragedy.
Shot in stark high contrast black and white the film bears resemblance to classic film noirs and the genre of the Road Movie.
The otherworldly Irish landscape, long tracking shots and the hallucinogenic blues soundtrack lend the film a peculiar rhythm and atmosphere.

THE ROAD TO NOD is the tale of PARRISH, an established member of a Frankfurt-based crime syndicate.
The film sets in on the day of PARRISH's release from prison.
Upon his release PARRISH heads for his old stomping grounds, the red light district of Frankfurt.
He immediately attempts to rekindle ties with his old partners, most notably a religious strip club owner known as THE REVEREND.
THE REVEREND hints at several opportunities and the two men agree to meet the following day to discuss matters in detail.
The next day PARRISH arrives at the designated meeting place, only to witness THE REVEREND being executed.
It soon becomes obvious, that all of THE REVEREND's associates are at risk.
A new syndicate attempts to gain control over the crime business in Frankfurt and will not rest until the Reverend's organization has been eradicated.
24 hours after his release from prison, PARRISH finds himself on the run.
PARRISH seeks assistance and shelter with HAIK BOKOS, an Armenian terrorist and MISCHA DE VILLE, a gypsy circus artist.
Yet it soon becomes apparent that his old peers will be of no assistance.
In this dismal situation Parrish resorts to acquiring artillery from MANFRED PECKL, a dubious painter and weapons dealer from Vienna as well seeking shelter at a safehouse operated by the Ukrainian eccentric MIRON ZOWNIR.
Eventually Parrish ends up in a seemingly abandoned mansion on the North West coast ofIreland, where he meets the mysterious young traveller POLLY MARIE MALLOY.
Here his Odyssee comes to an end.
