Synopsis
- A singer/song writer from the Bavarian Alps who doesn't mince words, is the most successful of his kind in Germany but nonetheless gets no airplay on radio or TV. He and his fans obviously have a different idea of freedom, tolerance and respect than that of the state they live in.
The documentary observes the singer at work. We are drawn into the rebel’s experiences, his ironic intelligence and wit, his daily routines and artistic output. We witness his restive and energetic fight against the state, why he is loved by some but hated by others, why patriotism and individualism still seemingly remain worlds apart, even in the supposedly free and democratic Germany.
His advocacy for the legalisation of marijuana and defiant statements against the powers-that-be has made him the most monitored artist in Germany, but at the same time a mouthpiece for thousands upon thousands of like-minded followers.
Sold out concerts, court appearances and house searches. The rasta from Bavaria is tugged between powerlessness and adulation adding to the phenomenon of his cult status.
