Synopsis
- Welcome to Tijuana is a 45-minute documentary about migration problems in Tijuana and reasons for attempting to cross into the USA illegally.
The film is based on rational facts but also provides a deep and subjective view into the life of migrants and the prob-lems they face trying to cross the dangerous US-/Mexican border.
Intense and emotional images illustrate insuperable prob-lems and undying hope to let the idealized American Dream finally come true. And so far it's not illegal to dream... .
Welcome to Tijuana is a film that plays with traditional methods of documentary-movie-making but creates an own type of esthetics by mixing these elements with graphics and sounds that have their roots in the traditional and modern Mexican culture. Intensity and comprehension are created by the omission of a narrator which leaves space for interviews with the involved characters and their opinions.
