Synopsis
- There are few, if any, scenes in this opera in which water is not sung about, and water became the defining element in Marco Arturo Marelli's interpretation of Debussy's work. In it he tells the story of the ailing House of Allemonde, currently languishing in a refuge flooded with water: four generations are bound together by illness, death and stagnation. All hopes are pinned on Mélisande. When Pelléas falls in love with her the triangular conflict escalates…
