- WRITER/DIRECTOR'S PRESENTATION My decision to make this movie solo was not a specific directorial choice. The film would never have been made if I hadn’t taken on all the responsibilities myself. It is very much an experimental production, shot without any crew. Put simply: it’s the product of a story, locations, characters and a special HD micro-camera in my own hands. An improbable mission, according to many. But here it is, the finished product.

The film starts with a dream sequence: a human body sinks into the blue, and then slowly rises back to the surface. A man breaks through the waves, alone, in the wide open sea. The dream evokes a sense of loss; it is also a premonition. We become aware right away that what we're seeing is the beginning of the film's epilogue. After his roommate committed suicide, Marco, the lead character in our story, begins to realize that his life is very similar to his friend's. Perhaps even more hopeless. A lack of prospects and a strong sense of inadequacy only darken his mood. Deep in crisis, the young man asks his brother Davide to travel with him to Holland, where he wants to accomplish what his friend Maurizio had so lucidly planned to accomplish: assisted suicide. He confesses that he wants to end it all, he wants to stop being such an outsider, stop the suffering. Davide, who has gotten used to his brother's crises and ravings over the years, doesn't give his requests the least credence. He doesn't know – he cannot know – that Marco's plan has at least a semblance of plausibility. Indeed, the Dutch protocol on euthanasia extends to the category of mental distress.
The day after the two of them talk, Marco runs away from the Community where he is living, and takes a train to Amsterdam, intent on completing his desperate (or crazy, depending on your point of view) mission...
