Synopsis
- The Film introduces and describes the addiction area of the gay counselling organisation / ‘Schwulenberatung’ Berlin.
Four gay men, who for different reasons – partly from early youth – become alcohol and/or drug addicted, talk about how they slipped into addiction and why they have decided to live their lives abstinent.
The gay counselling organisation in Berlin is an important contact point for them for their support and consolidation of their abstinence. As gay men they are guaranteed a protected area here which they would not experience in other institutions with heterosexuals.
Five counsellors and therapists describe their work area, which consists of one to one counselling, group therapy and a therapeutic flat-share.
Therapy and counselling are not the only work components at the gay counselling organisation. Addiction free parties and activities also prove that a sober life doesn’t have to be boring.
