Synopsis
- At the easternmost end of Russia lies the peninsula Kamchatka – a land full of fascinating flora and fauna, a land of extremes. It is home to the Itelmen, the native population of the peninsula. This film follows the tracks of Franconian naturalist Georg Wilhelm Steller. In the early 18th century, Steller was one of the first Europeans to explore Kamchatka. His extensive accounts enable the few contemporary indigenous Itelmen descendants to revive elements of their forgotten culture.
