Synopsis
- Alberto Franchetti ranked with Giacomo Puccini and Pietro Mascagni as one of the chief exponents of Italian Opera in the late 19th, early 20th century. GERMANIA had its world premiere in Milan's Teatro alla Scala on 11th March 1902, with Arturo Toscanini directing and Enrico Caruso in the leading role. The opera was a prompt success both at home and abroad.
